Aliby Joseph ‘A.J.’ Pennington

Aliby Joseph “A.J.” Pennington, 82, of Monticello, Mississippi, passed away at his residence on Dec. 31, 2019. He was born to Aliby and Roseann Pennington on May 1, 1937. He was retired from ODECO/Diamond Offshore after nearly 45 years. After retirement, he was self-employed with VJ’s Custom Framing for 17 years, where he enjoyed meeting new people and old friends at the weekend festivals.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dink Smith Pennington; his parents; an infant son, Ricky Pennington; brothers, Wilson Pennington and P.D. Pennington; and sister, Audrey Redd.

He is survived by a son, Jerry (Wanda) Pennington of Monticello; and daughters, Sheila (Jackie) Taylor Monticello and Gina Russell of Clinton, Mississippi. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Jan. 4, 2020, at Bethel Baptist Church in Monticello. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Bro. Michael Smith will officiate the service.
