Funeral services for Rachael Ann Thompson will be on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, at Decell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wesson, Mississippi, at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in the Wesson Cemetery.

Pastor Heather Hensarling and Pastor Andy Delancey will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at Decell Memorial United Methodist Church on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Thompson, 98, of Wesson, passed from this life on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Florence, Mississippi. She was born on March 29, 1921, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, to Robert Bishop and Jennie Decell Weeks. She was a member of Decell United Methodist Church, where she was served as the director of the children’s division for 30 years; worked for 30 years as an assistant bookstore manager for Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson; and enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes, church work and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Carl Lee Thompson; and sister, Benard Rochelle.

Survivors are her daughters, Rachael Carleen Rice of Valrico, Florida, and Janet Diane Shorter and husband, Chuck, of Florence, Mississippi; grandchildren, Timothy Rice, Mitchell Rice (Carrie), Taylor Rice, Melissa Shorter Albani (Aziz), Kirk Shorter (Anna) and Craig Shorter (Kristi); great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rice, Hannah Rice, Hayden Rice, Mazin Albani, Zain Albani, Savannah Shorter, Emma Shorter, Riley Miranda, Dallas Shorter, Eliza Glissen and Grady Glissen; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Kirk Shorter, Charles Hart, John Poole and Timothy Rice.
