RAYMOND (AP) — The board of trustees for a community college in Mississippi said it has begun searching for a new president to replace the longest-serving community college leader in the state’s history.
Hinds Community College hopes to name a new president by the end of April who would officially start July 1, the board said in a news release Wednesday.
Clyde Muse has been the president of the college since July 1, 1978. He announced last month that he would retire June 30. By the time he retires, Muse will have been the school’s leader 42 years, and he will have been an educator 68 years.
“It will be our goal to select someone who has the ability to appreciate the history of our college and energize the vision to continue moving us forward,” board president Paul Breazeale said in the release.
The target date for applications is Feb. 20, but the board said the application portal will stay open until the position is filled.
