Rotary Club of Brookhaven-Lincoln County will welcome the president of the Mississippi University for Women as its guest speaker Thursday.

Nora Roberts Miller is the 15th president at MUW. She has two bachelor’s degrees — one in business administration and another in accounting — both from “The W,” as the university is affectionately known. Miller also earned a master’s degree in business administration from Mississippi State University and is a certified public accountant.

Miller has been on staff at MUW since 2001, and has served as senior vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer for the university. She was also the legislative liaison for the campus, advocating for the institution with state leaders and legislators.

Miller has served on multiple boards and organizations, including as president of Rotary Club of Columbus, where MUW is located. She has also been named one of the Top 50 Businesswomen of the Year by the Mississippi Business Journal and received the Mississippi Distinguished Civilian Medal of Honor for her responsiveness to soldiers and airmen of the Mississippi National Guard.

Miller said she is looking forward to sharing a presentation with the club, which meets each Thursday at noon at Poppa’s Buffet and Grill. Cost of lunch is $12.50 and reservations can be made by calling or texting club president Pat Nelson at 901-493-9393.

Guests are always welcomed and local MUW alumni are extended a special invitation for this week’s meeting, Nelson said.

“I am so glad to have President Miller in Brookhaven to tell about the good things happening at MUW,” said Sen. Sally Doty, an MUW alumnus.

“Their nursing school is one of the best — not just in Mississippi, but in the Southeastern region. Their culinary program is fantastic and I am so glad to see their cooperation with Co-Lin. I received such a solid education at MUW and am glad to welcome the president to tell even more about ‘The W.’”
