The 2020 Krewe of Ceres Charity Ball is Feb. 22. Here are this year’s maids.

Theresa Ann Dykes

Theresa Ann Dykes is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Paul Dykes. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kavanagh, Mr. Charles Dykes and the late Theresa Dykes. She is an honor graduate of Brookhaven High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, a Mississippi Scholar and served as president of the BHS Book Club. She participated in the BHS homecoming production for three years, and was involved in the Panther Pals tutoring program where she helped fellow students in their scholastic endeavors. She received multiple scholarships to include The Swalm Scholarship, the ACT Academic Scholarship and the Colvard Future leader’s Scholarship. Dykes is a sophomore at Mississippi State University where she is majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Economics. She is a member of the French Club and has been on the President’s List and Dean’s list since attending MSU. After college she plans to attend Law School at Mississippi College. Her sister Katie served as a trainbearer. She attends Faith Presbyterian Church.

Abbigail Elizabeth Jones

Abbigail Elizabeth Jones is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Jones, Mrs. Joyce Duncan and the late James R. Duncan. She is a 2018 honors graduate of Brookhaven High School where she maintained an all-A record. She was a member of the National Honor Society and a Mississippi Scholar. She was a varsity tennis player and a competitive dancer for Showstoppers Studio of Dance. She was a member of the Junior Auxiliary Crown Club and Les Belles De L’Hospitalite. She also volunteered as a student tutor. Jones is a sophomore at the University of Mississippi’s Business School specializing in marketing. She is a member of the Epsilon Zeta chapter of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She continues her volunteer work as a tutor for the local Leap Frog Program and she participated in the Care Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness. Her brother Nathan Garrett Jones served as an escort and her brother Christopher Taylor Jones served on the court. She attends Saint Francis of Assisi Church.

Margaret Frances Massengill

Margaret Frances Massengill is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cameron Massengill, II. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Raiford Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Virgil Massengill. Massengill is a 2018 Special Honors Graduate of Brookhaven High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, aMississippi Scholar, Student Council representative, homecoming maid her junior and senior year, and was voted most popular. Massengill lettered in cheer and tennis, receiving the Tennis Team Panther Award in her last two seasons. She participated in Homecoming Production for four years and was yearbook editor her senior year. She is a sophomore at the University of Mississippi, selected as a fellow for the Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program. She is on the Chancellor’s Honor Roll. Massengill is a member of the Tau Chapter of Chi Omega Fraternity and serves as Assistant Pledge Trainer. She is a member of Reformed University Fellowship, serves on the ASB Connect Team, Cardinal Club, a volunteer for Big Event and RebelTHON. This past summer, she was a counselor at Camp Desoto. Her father Robb Massengill served as an escort on the court. She is attends Faith Presbyterian Church.

Kathryn Claire Meilstrup

Kathryn Claire Meilstrup is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Meilstrup. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hank Smith, the late Jean Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Meilstrup. She is a 2018 honor graduate of Brookhaven High School and a Mississippi Scholar recipient. She was elected Miss Brookhaven High School and Junior Class president. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Girl Empowerment Mentoring Club and Junior Auxiliary Crown Club. She served as student choreographer for the Homecoming Program for two years and head choreographer her senior year. Meilstrup was a competitive cheerleader for Gym of Dreams. She was a BHS cheerleader co-captain, received the Leadership Award and was invited to serve on staff for Universal Cheer Association. Meilstrup is a sophomore majoring at Mississippi State University College of Business majoring in Business Information Systems. She actively fundraises for Children’s Miracle Network. She is the recreational director and a competitive gymnastics coach at Dawg House Gymnastics. Her sister served as a maid and her brothers served as trainbearers. She attends First Baptist Church.

Madalyn Nicole Oglesby

Madalyn Nicole Oglesby is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Oglesby. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donnie King Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Oglesby, and great-granddaughter to Mrs. Charles Acy. She is a 2018 honors graduate of Brookhaven Academy. She was selected as a 2018 Hall of Fame recipient, All-A Honor Roll, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society and a Mississippi Scholar. She was a varsity cheerleader and Captain of the varsity soccer team. She was a member of the Science Club, History Club, Positive Choices Club, Teenage Republicans, Junior Auxiliary Crown Club and Les Belles De L’Hospitality. Her awards in high school include Brookhaven Academy Most Beautiful, UCA All American Cheerleader, Brookhaven Academy Community Service Award. Oglesby served as Lincoln County’s Miss Hospitality in 2018 and represented Brookhaven in the Mississippi Miss Hospitality competition and received a competitive scholarship. She is a sophomore at the University of Southern Mississippi’s School of Business majoring in Healthcare Marketing. She is a Dean’s List Scholar, a member of the Beta Sigma Chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority, Student Eagle Club, Student Alumni Association, and the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Society. She is a member of First Baptist Church in Brookhaven.

Caroline Elizabeth Pace

Caroline Elizabeth Pace is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Pace. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Pace and Mr. and Mrs. Lancy Smith. Caroline is a 2018 Honors graduate of Brookhaven High School where she maintained an all A record. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was a Mississippi Scholar. She was a varsity cheerleader and participated in the BHS annual Homecoming Production. She was a 16-year dancer at Showstoppers Studio of Dance and was a student teacher. She was a member of the Junior Auxiliary Crown Club and Les Belles De L’ Hospitalite. Her high school awards include UCA All- American and Best Dressed. She received the Pitt Presidential Scholarship, Georgia Pacific Corporation Scholarship, ACT Scholarship, and Colette Scholarship. Pace is currently a sophomore at Copiah-Lincoln Community College majoring in pre-pharmacy. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Trailblazers, and Student Government Association. She serves as Captain of the Colettes dance team. She was the recipient of the Henly endowed Scholarship and was a freshman homecoming maid. She plans to further her education at the University of Mississippi in the fall. She attends Easthaven Baptist Church.

Rebecca Anne Peavey

Rebecca Anne Peavey is the daughter of Dr. Michael Peavey and Ms. Ashley Whittington. She is the granddaughter of Mr. And Mrs. Billy Peavey and Dr. and Mrs. Frank Turnage. She is a 2018 graduate of Brookhaven High School. She was included in the A and B honor roll. She was a member of the Les Belles De L’Hospitalite and Empowering Young Women’s Club. Peavey is currently a sophomore at Copiah-Lincoln community college majoring in nursing. She is also owns a small business, Becca Bakes. She serves each summer at a hospital in Honduras that provides health care to people in need. Her late great-grandfather, Mr. Joe Brewer, was crowned king in 2008. She attends Faith Presbyterian Church.

Kathryn Rebecca Sullivan

Kathryn Rebecca Sullivan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lavelle Sullivan and Ms. Laurie Sullivan. She is the granddaughter of the Mrs. Jeanette Sullivan the late Mr. Stanley Sullivan and Mrs. Bobbie Sue Tedford and the late Mr. Rodney Tedford. Sullivan is a 2018 graduate of Brookhaven Academy. She was included in the A and B honor roll and Mississippi Scholars. She was a varsity cheerleader and selected as a high school beauty. She was a competitive dancer at Showstoppers Studio of Dance and a member the Junior Auxiliary Crown Club. She was also an active member of Teenage Republicans, First Priority and Positive Choices Club. She is a sophomore at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, where she is a member of the Colette dance team. She is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and is an active member of the Baptist Student Union. She plans to attend The University of Mississippi this fall, where she will continue her studies and obtain a master’s degree in Elementary Education. Her brother, August, and sister Olivia both served as trainbearers on the court. She attends First Baptist Church.

Allie Claire Townsend

Allie Claire Townsend is the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Dwayne Townsend and the granddaughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. Nolon Bowman and Mrs. Magaline Townsend and the late Mr. Wadie D. Townsend. Townsend is a 2018 Special Honors Graduate of Brookhaven High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, a Mississippi Scholar and an All-A Honor Roll recipient. She was a member of the Student Council, The Pride of Ole Brook Band and served as captain of the Color Guard and Winter Guard. She was the recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award, The Krewe of Ceres Scholarship and the Taylor Presidential Scholarship. She participated in the BHS homecoming production and danced with Showstoppers Studio of Dance for 15 years. Townsend is a sophomore at Copiah-Lincoln Community College majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in English. She is a President’s List Scholar, Vice President of Service of the Eta Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, Vice President of Membership In Mu Alpha Theta Math Society, and a Co-Lin Trailblazer. Townsend also serves as Captain of the Blue Wave Show Band Color Guard. After graduating from Copiah-Lincoln Community College, she plans to attend Mississippi College. Townsend was Brookhaven’s 2017 Miss Merry Christmas, and is presently Lincoln County’s Miss Hospitality. He attends Macedonia Baptist Church.

Cameron Dianne Watson

Cameron Dianne Watson is the daughter of Dr. Bob and Dianne Watson. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Peggy Smith and the late Mr. J.C. Smith and Mrs. Laverne Watson and the late Mr. Jimmy Watson.Watson graduated as Valedictorian with highest honors from Brookhaven Academy in 2018. She was a member of National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Science Club, Teenage Republicans, History Club, FCA, and First Priority.Watson was selected Miss Brookhaven Academy and participated in the MAIS AA All-Star Basketball and Softball Games. She also received the Wendy’s Heisman Award at Brookhaven Academy and was Defensive Player of the Year for the District in Basketball. She was named to the All-State Tournament team and was a starting forward for the State Champion Lady Cougars. Watson is a sophomore at Mississippi State University majoring in Chemistry. At Mississippi State, she is involved in Student Members of the American Chemical Society, the university Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, and is a part of the Programming Board for the MSU Student Association. Cameron’s brother, Colton, served as an escort in the court. Watson attends Mt. Zion Baptist Church, but attends Pinelake Church while in Starkville.
