Lady Cobras traveling to Bay Springs tonight

- Photo by Lisa Smith Wesson travels tonight to Jasper County for a 6 p.m. matchup with Bay Springs. The Lady Cobras have won more games this year than any campaign since the 2014-2015 season.
After a three-year absence, the Wesson Lady Cobras are back in the MHSAA playoffs as they travel to Bay Springs tonight for a matchup in Jasper County with the Lady Bulldogs.
Bay Springs (22-4) won the Region 5-2A tournament over Puckett. Coached by Bay Springs alum and Southern Miss hall-of-famer Nedra Hosey, the Lady Bulldogs are known for having a fast-paced style of play.
In their 51-20 loss to Bogue Chitto in the Region 7-2A consolation game, Wesson got six points from Meleyjah Lyons and five points apiece from seniors Natassja James and Shelbi Maxwell. O’Koya Barlwo and Kionna Gibson chipped in two points each for coach Michelle Nunnery.
Wesson (13-15) last made the playoffs in the 2015-2016 season under then girls’ coach Rusty Newman.
After the loss to Bogue Chitto both James and Maxwell were named to the All-Region team.
Tipoff tonight at Bay Springs is scheduled for 6 p.m.
