After the game Wallace, Britt, Smitha and Townsend were all named to the All-Region team.

Coached by Angela Moore, Taylorsville (20-8) is a strong no. 3 seed from Region 5-2A.

“They’ve got a good record and two nice inside players that we’ll have to work to slow down,” said Loyd Star head coach Gene “Moochie” Britt.

Senior Kolten Lakeney averages 18.2 points per game for the Lady Tartars and fellow senior Whitney Keyes chips in 10 points per night.

“We’ll need to force them to try and score from the outside and we’ll need to do a good job rebounding,” said Britt.

Taylorsville traveled to Lincoln County back on Dec. 21 and came away with a 40-33 win at Bogue Chitto.

The Lady Tartars came close to the top two teams in the region a couple times, losing to second seeded Puckett 57-51 at home and 54-49 at top seeded Bay Springs.

Tipoff tonight at Loyd Star is scheduled for 6 p.m.
