SHUQUALAK (AP) — Heavy rains may have contributed to the death of a woman in Mississippi who was hit by a forklift at a lumber mill.
Toya Smith, 45, died Wednesday morning at Shuqualak Lumber Company after being hit by a forklift, Noxubee County Coroner R.L. Calhoun told news outlets.
The driver of a forklift didn’t see Smith because of heavy rains, Calhoun said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith’s body was being sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was investigating.
