What do you do when everyone wants to help? KDMC answers that question

King’s Daughters Medical Center is experiencing a new kind of “problem” — though it’s not really a problem at all.

So many people want to pitch in and help KDMC’s medical and other staff, but don’t know the best way to go about it.

David Culpepper, KDMC’s director of marketing said the hospital and its employees are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support they are receiving from their community.

“We continue to receive calls from individuals and organizations wanting to donate or bring food for our staff. Ordinarily, this would be something that we would welcome. However, these are not ordinary times,” Culpepper said.

“As a healthcare facility, we have to be extremely cautious about what comes into our hospital regardless of the source,” he said. “Our staff is working tirelessly to care for out patients and community and we have to protect that environment.”

So the hospital asks that in lieu of food donations, a monetary gift can be given to KDMC Foundation and food will be purchased from local vendors, whenever possible. To discuss a different idea, potential donors can contact Foundation Director Jeff Richardson at 601-835-7900.

Another urgent need is for washable, reusable masks. Anyone who is interested in donating masks should call Melissa Leggett at 601-672-7826 or Culpepper at 601-757-9810 for details on what is needed and how to make the donation.

To donate to KDMC Foundation, visit kdmc.org/give online, call Richardson or mail gifts to KDMC Foundation, P.O. Box 3285, Brookhaven, MS 39603.

“Again, we appreciate your prayers and your unceasing support of KDMC,” Culpepper said.
