Some local businesses and offices are offering free Wi-Fi to students during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Due to the guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, classes are unable to meet. This greatly affects students of all ages. Classes taught at the college level are still going on but are being taught with alternative methods.

Online classes are being taught at both the community college and university levels. While this may sound like a good alternative, that isn’t the case for many students.

Online classes require high speed internet and many students do not have this available where they live. Luckily, there are options available to those who need it.

CSpire has expanded its high speed internet into the business’ parking lots outside their store. This was added to stores in Brookhaven and McComb.

For students at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, the parking lot on the east side of the press box at H. L. Stone Football Stadium has 24-hour access.

Mississippi State students can visit the Lincoln County Extension Center office during normal business hours. Students must bring their laptops in order to connect to the network. The office is located at 301 South First Street.

While the Lincoln County Public Library isn’t open, the Wi-Fi is still accessible outside of the building. Students are encouraged to practice social distancing while using this service.
