Praiveon Sanders was arrested in Hazlehurst Friday morning in connection with the homicide that took place on East Cherokee Street at the intersection of Marr Street just before 6 p.m. Thursday. The victim was found dead in the street.

Sanders was arrested without incident Friday morning by the Copiah County Sheriff’s Department.

“We would like to thank Sheriff Swilley and all of the Copiah County Sheriff’s officers and Hazlehurst Police Department officers in helping us make this arrest and we want to extend our hearts and our prayers out to Mr. Carl King’s family for their loss,” said Brookhaven Police Department Chief Kenneth Collins. “We just want to thank the public for all of their tips and their cooperation in making this arrest.”
