COVID-19 update: Lincoln County death toll now at 6

Two additional Lincoln County residents have died from COVID-19 since Monday, bringing the total to six.

There are 95 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county as of 6 p.m. Thursday, up 39 from the numbers reported from Monday evening. There are two long-term care facilities in the county currently experiencing an outbreak. There have also been an additional 706 confirmed cases and 29 deaths reported state-wide by the Mississippi State Department of Health. That brings the state-wide total to 3,793 confirmed cases and 140 deaths.

As of Thursday, 65 patients have tested positive from King’s Daughters Medical Center, and they have administered 449 tests since the outbreak began. There have been 37,733 tests state-wide as of Sunday, according to the MSDH. KDMC expects a three to eight-day turnaround for test results. People who believe they have COVID-19 can receive testing from KDMC from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. seven days a week. People should call 601-835-9455 before visiting so that the hospital can prepare for a potential COVID-19 patient. Screening can be accessed by following the signs on Brookman Drive.

The MSDH and the University of Mississippi Medical Center are also running free testing at the Mississippi Fairgrounds in Jackson for those who are determined to be at high risk for having COVID-19.
