Three Lincoln County residents have died from COVID-19 since Tuesday.

This brings the total number of deaths in the county as of 6 p.m. Thursday to 17, according to data published by the Mississippi State Department of Health. MSDH reports 197 confirmed cases in the county, with 67 in long-term care facilities.

Statewide, 893 cases have been confirmed and 36 people have died since Tuesday. In total, there have been 10,801 confirmed cases and 493 deaths. In long-term care facilities, 1,416 cases have been confirmed and 231 people have died.

The county with the most confirmed cases of the virus is Hinds County, with 745. Hinds has only reported 20 deaths, however. The only other counties with more than 500 confirmed cases each are Madison (507 cases, 17 deaths), Scott (504 cases, six deaths) and Lauderdale — reporting 566 cases and 45 deaths. Lauderdale County also has the highest number of deaths in long-term care facilities — 27.

Issaquena remains the only county with no reported cases of coronavirus. Counties with less than 10 confirmed cases are Greene (7) and Sharkey (5). Counties reported confirmed cases but no deaths as of Thursday are: Amite, Benton, Claiborne, Covington, Jefferson, Lawrence, Quitman, Sharkey, Simpson, Stone, Tate, Tishomingo, Walthall, Wayne, Winston and Yalobusha.

According to numbers published Thursday, labs around the state have tested 106,823 people for the virus. Of those, 1,073 tests have been performed by King’s Daughters Medical Center, and 148 KDMC administered tests have returned positive for COVID-19.

Tattoo parlors can reopen

Gov. Tate Reeves announced Friday afternoon that tattoo parlors can begin reopening, following the same safety guidelines as salons and barber shops. Dance studios were also cleared to begin reopening.
