The acidity of an heirloom tomato, the crunch of peppers and the sweetness of homemade pies and breads are all coming back together this week at the Brookhaven Farmers Market.

The market will open Friday at 8 a.m. in the parking lot of Godbold Transportation Center, home of the Amtrak train and Greyhound bus stations. The drive-through-only event will continue until 11 a.m.

A variety of vegetables, canned goods and baked goods will be available. Details of what products will be available will be posted on the market’s Facebook page this week, with options to pre-order.

One vendor has announced the following fresh herbs will be available: rosemary, oregano, sage, thyme, mints, chives, lemon balm, parsely, tarragon and dill, for $1.50 per bunch or $5 for five bunches.

The recent restrictions due to coronavirus have necessitated a greater precaution for health safety in most every area of life, and the market is no exception.

Since this is the first time Brookhaven Farmers Market has operated in a drive-through format, shoppers should plan to show a little extra patience and kindness as producers work to get requested products to each person’s vehicle.

Vendors will be wearing masks and gloves, and ask those attending to do the same, if possible.
