Private graveside services for Mrs. Elsie Jean Thompson of Brookhaven are 10:00 am, Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Elsie Jean Thompson, 84, went to be with her Lord on May 20, 2020 at Diversicare of Brookhaven.

She was born on August 17, 1935 to the late Martin Luther Smith and Julia Marguerite Case Smith. Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she played the organ for 53-plus years. She was also a member and driver of the Homemakers Club and Golden Oldies.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Harold Luther Smith; and nephews, Christopher Smith and Scott Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Mike Thompson; son, Michael Thompson and wife, Susan; daughter, Deborah Gail Case and husband, Donald; and brothers, Rev. Talmadge Eugene Smith and Carey Lynnward Smith. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Dr. Chad Case and wife Amy, Jessica Smith and husband Todd, Kathryn Thompson, David Thompson and wife Elizabeth and Craig Case; along with six great-grandchildren.
