Mississippi judge resigns post due to health concerns

(AP) — A Mississippi judge is resigning for health reasons.
Media outlets report that Hinds County Court Judge Melvin Priester Sr. announced his resignation on Wednesday.
In a letter to the Supreme Court of Mississippi, Priester said he was resigning due to health concerns. He wrote that he can can no longer maintain his position due to his physical condition.
Priester said in the letter that he wanted to thank Hinds County residents and his colleagues and staff for supporting him during his time as a judge.
