Anyone who needs to renew a Mississippi driver license take note — schedules have changed.
Beginning Monday, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety will implement changes to current weekly schedules at driver license facilities requiring customers to apply according to the first letter of their last names.
Mondays will be for customers whose last names start with letters A to E. Tuesdays are for customers whose last names start with letters F to L. Thursdays are for letters M to S and Fridays for letters T to Z.
Firearm permits and security guard permits will now be scheduled only for Wednesdays. Wednesdays will also serve as “Walk-In Wednesdays” for anyone.
Customers age 65 and older are encouraged to visit between 8 and 10 a.m. on Wednesdays.
Renewal and duplicate driver licenses, ID cards and address changes will not be performed at any driver license station until further notice. These services must be accessed online at www.driverservicebureau.dps.ms.gov.
Area driver license stations can be found in Brookhaven — at 160 Hwy. 84 E — Summit, Natchez, Richland and Pearl. The Prentiss and Collins offices are closed until further notice.
Customers visiting any location are strongly encouraged to wear masks inside the stations and to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Temperature checks will be administered to each customer before he or she is allowed to enter the service location.
