For a third day in a row, Mississippi’s COVID-19 numbers have drastically fallen.

New cases reported by the Mississippi State Department of Health Tuesday totaled 644, with 33-newly reported deaths, including one in Lincoln County.

Saturday’s report from MSDH showed 1,210 new cases, but Sunday’s report showed 527 and Monday’s showed 476. These two days were the first in a week to be below 950.

There have been 68,293 cases and 1,944 deaths in Mississippi from the coronavirus pandemic.

Lincoln County has had 834 cases and 42 deaths. That is 38 more cases over the weekend and one additional death.

There have been 124 cases in long term care facilities — five more since Saturday’s report — and 28 LTC deaths.

As of Friday — MSDH’s most recent hospitalizations reporting date — 978 were hospitalized statewide with confirmed infections, 188 were in hospitals with suspected infections, 334 were in intensive care units and 198 were on ventilators.

Nearly 50,000 people — 49,836 — were presumed recovered from the virus. As of Saturday afternoon, the most recently-reported numbers, 500,237 tests had been performed statewide for active infections and 17,608 for antibodies.

Home isolation is mandatory if you have tested positive for COVID-19 by order of the State Health Officer. If you have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19, quarantine is also important to protect others.
