The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has called off an investigation and the Brookhaven Police Department asks the public’s assistance in some open investigations.

 

Investigation canceled

On Aug. 4, the sheriff’s office was notified that a driver had been flagged down on Zetus Road at approximately 8:30 p.m. and then robbed by two masked men, who then fled when another vehicle approached. Descriptions were provided of the suspects, including skin color, clothing, and approximate height and weight.

After further investigation by LCSO investigators, the incident was determined to have not occurred.

“At this time we are not looking for any robbery suspects or investigating any reports of robbery on Jackson-Liberty or Zetus Road,” a statement from the sheriff’s office read.

 

Trespassing

BPD investigators are attempting to locate the driver and/or owner of a white SUV with a black hood in reference to a complaint of trespassing on private property.

 

Fights and assaults

BPD Chief Kenneth Collins has also asked anyone with video or recent fights on North Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and at a carwash on East Monticello Street to submit these to the police department.

“We have had a few fights that went on (last) weekend,” Collins posted on BPD’s social media recently. “We had people watching and filming these altercations. What you don’t realize is that you could be watching someone about to be killed or seriously injured. You are just as guilty as these people fighting by taking part of this type of activity in our community.”

Collins said this type of behavior, unchecked, leads to people getting killed.

In an update, the chief identified Orlandas Chapman as involved in the East Monticello Street carwash altercation. Chapman told investigators he did not know who had assaulted him. Collins said anyone involved in the assault or in retaliation efforts will be charged.

Collins also identified Jayden Shannon as involved in an assault on Georgia Avenue.

In a plea for those involved in fights and assaults to surrender to police, Chief Collins identified the following as having been charged or awaiting charges in the fight on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive — Anquanette Pryor, Zoe Franklin, Sharleton Gordon, Isaiah Dixon and Terena Dixon.

“Our community is better than this,” he wrote.

 

Armed and dangerous

BPD is also attempting to locate James Levi of McComb. Levi is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated assault domestic violence and shooting into an occupied motor vehicle. The car was occupied by three adult females, a 10-year-old child and a 2-year-old child.

Levi is known to hang around the Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Cloverdale areas, and should be considered armed and dangerous.

“Anyone helping hide Levi or aiding is his eluding of law enforcement will be charged along with him,” Collins said.
