The Lincoln County School District has announced its plan to phase all students back in to on-ground learning.

On Monday, LCSD released a letter concerning sending all of the district’s students back to their respective campuses. These students would be those who signed up for traditional learning, not those who opted for at-home learning.

“We still believe that face to face instruction in the traditional classroom is the most effective method for teaching,” Superintendent David Martin wrote. “Safety will always be our primary concern in dealing with students and staff while fulfilling our duty and responsibility to educate.”

For the week of Sept. 8, all students kindergarten through third grade will attend school Tuesday-Friday, while grades 4-12 will attend only two days out of the week.

Group A will have class on Tuesday and Thursday, while Group B will have class Wednesday and Friday.

For the week of Sept. 14, all students kindergarten through third grade will attend school Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Grades 4-12 will remain on their A-B schedule, with Wednesday serving as a day for enhanced cleaning, proctored testing and extra assistance.

The week of Sept. 21 will see the return of all fourth through six grade students, adding in to the kindergarten through third grade students returning. Those two groups will attend class on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Grades 7-12 will still be on their A-B schedule and Wednesday will still be used for cleaning and other needs.

The week of Oct. 5 will see the return of all K-12 students attending class four days a week — Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The letter states the plan can be adjusted as needed in the case that COVID-19 case numbers jump too high.
