For a second straight week, coach Brian Ford and his Hornets fought back from a two-score halftime deficit on the road to earn a win.

Loyd Star jumped up 7-0 early at Mize Friday night before the homestanding Bulldogs pulled ahead in the second quarter.

Just like they did last week at Ethel, though, the Hornets climbed out of that hole to get the win.

The Hornets (2-2) are back in action next week as they open Region 7-2A play at Enterprise.

Parklane Academy 39, Brookhaven Academy 7

Brookhaven Academy (4-2) grabbed a 7-0 lead Friday night over MAIS 6A Parklane in their matchup played at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit.

The Pioneers took over after that as they scored three unanswered touchdowns in the first half and three more in the second half to take the big win.

Next week the Cougars and coach Ron Rushing will play another bigger opponent when they visit Natchez to take on the Adams County Christian School Rebels.

West Lincoln 30, St. Andrew’s 13

West Lincoln bounced back Friday night with a whipping of the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Saints on Perry Miller Field.

Last week it was the Catholics from St. Joseph that squeezed out a close win over the Bears at home.

Friday though coach Brad Bland and his team led 22-0 at halftime on their way to the victory.

West Lincoln (2-2) visits Wesson next week for the Region 7-2A opener for both teams.

Clarkdale 41, Enterprise 0

Coach Trey Woodard and his Enterprise Yellow Jackets made the long trip to Lauderdale County Friday night to face the Clarkdale Bulldogs (2-2).

It was only the second game of the season for the Jackets who lost their first two weeks of play to COVID-19.

Enterprise makes their home debut Friday when they host Loyd Star on Harry Cole Field.
