The Brookhaven High football team will continue to wait before playing their next game.

After having last week’s matchup with West Jones postponed by the Mustangs, the Panthers are again shuffling their schedule due to COVID-19 related issues.

Originally scheduled to play Laurel High on King Field this Friday, that game has now been moved to Friday, Oct. 23.

BHS had been scheduled to play South Pike on Oct. 23 but that game was canceled as it was not a region matchup.

The other non-region game left on the schedule, at home on Oct. 9 against Ridgeland, has also been canceled.

Ole Brook (0-1) last played on Sept. 4 against Petal in the season opener.

The schedule now calls for BHS to play at South Jones on Oct. 16, host Laurel on Oct. 23, travel to Natchez on Oct. 30 and close the regular season at home against West Jones on Nov. 6.

Brookhaven High, Laurel, Natchez, South Jones and West Jones are all members of Region 3-5A. Fellow region members Forest Hill, Jim Hill and Wingfield did not field football teams this year as the Jackson Public School District canceled all fall sports.
