Special election results: Senate District 39 RUNOFF

A special election was scheduled to fill the Mississippi Senate District 39 seat after Sen. Sally Doty resigned in July to head the Public Utilities staff.
Of the original nine candidates who qualified for the Sept. 22 special election, running without party designations, the top two vote-getters were Brookhaven attorney Jason Barrett and Brookhaven businessman Bill Sones. A runoff was conducted Oct. 13. Polls were open until 7 p.m.
These results DO NOT include totals from other counties.
In Lincoln County, 30/30 precincts reporting, unofficial results; 5,828 total votes counted.
o Jason Barrett 45.62% 2,659 votes
o Bill Sones 54.02% 3,148 votes
o Write-in 21 votes
In Lincoln County, 98 absentee ballots were outstanding as of Tuesday night.
