A fire at a local barbecue restaurant was quickly extinguished by fire fighters Friday afternoon.

Units from Brookhaven Fire Department responded just after noon to reports of a fire at Magnolia Blues BBQ Company on West Monticello Street.

The fire was contained to the outside smoker area, and likely started from a flare up, said BFD Inspector Stanley Dixon.

One employee suffered burns to their hands, and was sent to the hospital to be examined.
