The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League is once again participating in the Empty the Shelters: Holiday Hope adoption event.

The event, sponsored by Bissell Pet Foundation, reduces adoption fees for select cats and dogs Dec 9-13. The fee for an animal adopted during this period is $25.

BARL is one of 170 shelters in 35 states participating in the Holiday Hope adoption event.

This is the seventh BPF event in 2020. Since the program began in 2016, 40,550 shelter pets have been adopted through BPF-sponsored events.

“It’s so important to choose adoption,” said BPF founder Cathy Bissell. “So many people want to bring a pet into their home at this time of year. With the overwhelming number of pets in shelters, why not give them a chance? Without you, there really is no tomorrow, so please consider adoption first.”

BARL board member Rusty Adcock says the event is a great opportunity for anyone who is considering pet adoption.

“The Bissell Pet Foundation is a great organization that provides shelters like BARL an opportunity to get more animals placed into homes,” Adcock said. “During the Empty the Shelters promotion we are able to offer discounted adoption fees on select animals.”

BARL is a nonprofit, volunteer-based animal welfare organization serving Lincoln, Copiah and Franklin counties. The shelter provides food, shelter and veterinary services for homeless animals until they are adopted.

All BARL animals are vaccinated and spayed/neutered. Dogs are also micro-chipped.
