Funeral services for Mrs. Willie Mae Smith will be on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at Big Springs Baptist Church in Brookhaven, MS, at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in the Big Springs Cemetery. Bro. Kenny Cantrell and Bro. Billy Joe Deer will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020, from 5 until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, from noon until 2 p.m.

Mrs. Smith, 76, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 22, 1944, in Brookhaven, MS, to William Bardwell and Nora Mae Ballard Bardwell. She was a long-time member of Big Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Nora Mae Bardwell; sister, Betty Jean Phinney; brother, Willie Monroe Bardwell; and great-granddaughter Makenzie Joan Smith.

Survivors are her husband of 58 years, Houie Smith; daughter, Kay Martin and husband, Billy; son, Stephen Ray Smith, both of Brookhaven, MS; grandson, Justin Ray Smith (Summer); granddaughters, Cassie Dunaway (Brent) and Jessica Nilsson (Tyler); three great-grandsons, Hayden Dunaway, Seth Nilsson and Jameson Smith; three great-granddaughters, Harlee Dunaway, Makayla Smith and Raelyn Nilsson, whom she loved very much; a very special cousin she considered a daughter, Angie Perry; and a host of family and friends.
