Off-duty officer hit by stray bullet at Mississippi bar
(AP) — A Mississippi police investigator who was off duty was wounded in a shooting during an argument at a Jackson bar, authorities said.
Vicksburg Police Investigator Eddie Colbert was hit in the face by a stray bullet around 1 a.m. Saturday at the 4th Avenue Lounge, authorities told media outlets.
A security guard at the club, Eric Williams, was shot several times after arguing with another man. Both men remain in the hospital, police said.
Jaqwon Allen, 29, faces two counts of aggravated assault in the shooting, police said.
Colbert has worked for Vicksburg Police since 2014, the agency said.
“We ask that all members of the public join us in prayers for Investigator Colbert and his family in this difficult time,” the Vicksburg department said in a statement.
