COVID update: Lincoln County reports 35 new cases, state posts 43 new deaths

Forty-three coronavirus deaths were reported by the Mississippi State Department of Health Wednesday, one day after the highest one-day death total for the state — 79.

Six of the deaths occurred Dec. 4-17, identified from death certificate reports; the other 37 occurred Oct. 30-Dec. 22.

MSDH also reported 2,634 new positive test results and 238 current outbreaks in long-term care facilities.

Lincoln County reported 35 new cases for a total of 2,397 — 105 new positive results within five days. The county has had 74 deaths.

MSDH has recorded 141,944 confirmed cases and 3,702 confirmed deaths. There have been 58,381 probable cases and 831 probable deaths from COVID. The state has reported 200,325 total cases and 4,533 total deaths.

The state presumes 154,669 people have recovered as of Sunday night.

Testing

Testing is available in Brookhaven at King’s Daughters Medical Center. The COVID screening site is located behind the Emergency Room and will be open to the public 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Call 601-835-9455 to make an appointment.

Testing is also available for those without health insurance, on Mondays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. outside the Lincoln County Health Department, 1212 Northpark Lane NE, Brookhaven. Interested persons should call 601-496-7200 before arriving. Testing is also available this week Wednesday-Friday.
