Lincoln County suffered limited damage from a storm system that moved through the area in the late night hours of Wednesday and into Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for the coverage area until 12:30 a.m., urging residents to take shelter immediately.
Though approximately 1.25 inches of rain fell on the county, Emergency Management Director Clifford Galey said very little damage was reported as of Thursday morning.
“We had a few trees down around the county and some power outages, but no other damage that I am aware of,” Galey said.
According to tornado tracking company U.S. Tornadoes, Mississippi averages three to four tornadoes in the month of December.
