COVID update: Lincoln County at 80 deaths, 2,698 positive cases

Twenty-one new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Lincoln County Wednesday morning, as well as one new virus-related fatality, identified from death certificate reports Dec. 10-30.

The county now has 2,698 reported cases — 199 over the past seven days — and 80 deaths.

The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 1,767 new coronavirus cases Wednesday and 91 new deaths — 15 from death certificate reports Dec. 10-30 and 76 that occurred Dec. 30-Jan. 4.

The state has now recorded 225,444 cases — 151,895 confirmed — and 4,975 deaths — 3,902 confirmed coronavirus-related.

There were 227 current outbreaks reported for long-term care facilities.

The latest hospitalization records, posted Monday, showed 1,444 people hospitalized statewide for COVID-19 infections, 348 in intensive care units and more than 200 on ventilators. There were 61 beds available for adult patients in ICUs statewide.

As of Sunday night, MSDH presumes 182,103 people have recovered from COVID-19 infections — 80.7% of all reported cases; 2.2% of infected individuals have died.
