John Kevin Bessonette

John Kevin Bessonette departed this earth December 10, 2020. He was a Brookhaven native and resident of Florence. He was born on March 13, 1956 to Doris and J.C. Bessonette.
A private memorial will be held January 14,2021.
Kevin attended Brookhaven schools and graduated from the Co-Lin School of nursing. He went to work at Mississippi State Hospital forensic unit for 25 years. He was known for his patience and compassion and the lively tours he conducted for nursing students.
He enjoyed 33 years with his life partner and spouse, Stacy McEachern. They built a life together and Kevin spoiled every dog they ever owned.
Kevin was avid collector of Barbies and vintage Tupperware. He loved to visit thrift stores and rummage sales to stock the flea market booth he operated for 20 years. After retirement he also conducted estate sales.
He enjoyed time with friends and was close to his extended family. He made friends everywhere he went and had the gift of making others feel special.
Kevin is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Michael Smith and Steve Smith.
He is survived by: his spouse; nephews Chris Smith (Christina) and Zercon Smith (Shana); his niece Alana Smith (Tracy); several cousins; sister-in-law (Pat Smith); several great nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed spending time with friends and was close to his extended family. He made friends with everyone he met and one of his many gifts was making others feel special.
