John Leslie Dunn Sr.

Funeral service for John Leslie Dunn Sr. will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Central Baptist Church with burial at Riverwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service. Reverend Ryan Thurman will officiate.

Mr. John Leslie Dunn Sr., of Brookhaven, began his walk here on earth, February 14, 1937, and entered eternity February 7, 2021. He journeyed here 83 years. Mr. Dunn was a Compressor Mechanic with Shell Oil Company and was the oldest charter member of Central Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and all things outdoors. He was also a member of Gideon’s International and served the Lord by getting the Scripture into the hands of many people. He was also a Yorkrite and 32nd degree Mason. Mr. Dunn loved his wife and children, and his legacy will live on through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Everett Dunn and Mazie Lorena Wallace Dunn; three brothers, Charles E. Dunn Jr., James Gerald Dunn and Wallace Dunn; one sister, Lottie Mae Freeman; and one grandson, Jacob A. Dunn.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his wife, Patricia Ann Dunn; sons, John Leslie Dunn, Jr. (Kathy), David Gerald Dunn (Sondra), Asa Matthew Dunn (Linette); five grandchildren, Samantha Dunn Mahloch (David), Bridget Dunn Vanover (Jeremy), Alayna Dunn, Laurie Ann Dunn, and Rachel Dunn; great grandchild, Levi Aaron Vanover; sister-in-law, Jean Dunn; many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
