The posted speed limit is too fast on icy roads, Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Craig James cautions, as Lincoln County and surrounding areas are in the midst of a winter storm.

“Travel is extremely discouraged. But if you must, please slow down. Roadway conditions in Troop M are continuing to worsen and most wrecker services are not responding to calls,” said James.

Highways, interstates, bridges and elevated roads are considered the most dangerous at this time.
