Jewel D. McManus, of Lincoln County, was recently honored with the presentation of a quilt from the Quilts of Valor Foundation.

McManus served in the United States Army November 1950 through August 1952. While in Korea, he was stationed in the combat zone from May 1951 until January 1952 where he served as a truck driver and an ambulance driver. The quilt presented to McManus was made by Gail Dummer of Lansing, Michigan.

The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a movement of over 10,000 volunteer members across 600 groups in all 50 states. Their mission is to recognize the contributions and sacrifices of service members and veterans who have been touched by war, regardless of where, how or when they served. The quilts represent tangible gratitude for the veteran’s service. The organization has made and awarded over 250,000 Quilts of Valor throughout the United States.
