COVID update: 679 new cases, 19 more deaths

As the total number of positive COVID-19 test results for Mississippi climbs daily toward the 300,000 mark — with the addition of 679 cases reported Wednesday afternoon — the death toll remains below 7,000. With 19 new deaths reported, the state total has reached 6,864 fatalities.

Lincoln County had 10 new cases reported Wednesday, up to 3,680 positive test results, and no new deaths added to the cumulative total of 104.

Of Lincoln’s neighboring counties, Jefferson has had the least number of cases at 633, and Franklin and Lawrence have had the least deaths, at 21 each. Pike County has had the most cases of the virus in these counties, at 3,053, and the most deaths, at 98.
