Funeral services for Mavis Ratcliff will be on March 20, 2021, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 1230 Macedonia Church Road, in Brookhaven, MS, at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in the Macedonia Cemetery. Dr. Garland Boyd and Bro. Nathan Case will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Mavis S. Ratcliff left this life for the next on March 16, 2021. She was a wonderful Christian woman who loved her Lord, her church and her family. Her price was far above rubies.

She was born in Lincoln County on April 24, 1921, the first of four daughters born to Oscar J. Smith and Eulus Britt Smith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Sidney Ratcliff; her sister, Gladys Hester; her sons-in-law, John M. Laird Jr. and Neal Lewis; and her great-grandson, Evan Walker.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Carroll Ratcliff and wife Amy; her daughters, Brenda Laird and Sandra Lewis; grandchildren, Lora Hedgepeth (Danny), Chris Haley, Pam Walker (Gary), Michelle Bland (Brad), Lance Lewis (Christi), Susan Thames, Cassie Jannise (James) and Jolynne Butler (Kevin); 17 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Gertie Ratcliff and Lexie Smith.
