Carroll David Channell

Carroll David Channell, 77, of Wesson, MS, passed away March 17, 2021, in St.. Dominic Hospital, Jackson, MS. He was born in Jackson, MS, on December 9, 1943. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Davis Channell; and sons, Austin Davis Channell (Mayda Channell and daughter Alayna) and Clinton Cagle Channell (daughters Josephine, Penelope and Louisa).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll Ellis Channell and Marion Cagle Channell; and brother, Ronnie Channell.

David was a proud Provine Ram, class of 1961. He attended the University of Mississippi, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1965. He continued his education with a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1969 and a Doctorate of Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University in 1979. He was a Chartered Financial Analyst in 1981.

He taught economics and finance at East Texas State University in Commerce, TX. Then left education to become Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at First National Bank in Huntsville, Texas. He was last employed at William Carey College, where he held the Thomson Endowed Chair of Business Administration. He took an early retirement due to health reasons. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer where he was on the vestry. Every December he delighted in portraying Saint Nicholas.

David was cremated. A memorial service will be held on March 26, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Brookhaven, MS. His ashes will be committed to the columbarium there at the church. Rather than flowers, the family requests memorial gifts should be given to the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Brookhaven, MS.
