Fourteen law enforcement officers participated in a Taser instructors’ course Friday in Brookhaven.

Officers from Brookhaven Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigations and the U.S. military took part in the training at the Brookhaven Building, led by a representative and instructor from Taser. A Taser is a non-lethal electroshock weapon used to incapacitate targets via shocks that temporarily impair the target’s physical function to a level that allows them to be approached and handled in an unresisting and thus safe manner.

The officers trained as instructors will then be able to train other officers to use the weapons appropriately and accurately.
