Services for Learline “Shot” Bryant of Brookhaven, MS, are graveside, 12 noon, Saturday, April 17, 2021, in Ebenezer AME Church Cemetery, Brookhaven, MS, with the Rev. Phillip Sterling, Officiating.

A walkthru visitation will be held prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Social Distancing will be observed and you must wear a facemask to enter.

Learline Bryant, affectionately known as Shot and twin to Earline, daughter of the late N.Z. and Allie Mae Bryant, the fifth child of seven children, was born on November 19, 1934, in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

She joined Ebenezer A.M.E Church in Brookhaven at an early age where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. While serving at Ebenezer, she was a Treasurer of the Pastor’s Aid, a member of the Missionary Society and a Stewardess.

She attended Damascus School in Lincoln County until the ninth grade when she attended Alexander High School in Brookhaven. While at Alexander, she was the center guard for the girls’ basketball team and supported the team through many championship years until she graduated from Alexander High School in 1953.

She worked locally until 1963, then moved to Pittsburg, California. After one year she moved to San Francisco, California, and worked as a Home Health Aid and later at Laguna until 1968. She returned to Brookhaven to work with many prominent local families.

Learline departed this life on April 9, 2021, and is preceded in death by her parents, N.Z. and Allie Mae Bryant; sisters, Henrietta “Dolly” Brown, Beatrice “Monk” Gills, Theola “Polly” Robinson, Earline “Bird” Corey and Christine “PA” Crossley; and nephew, Sheridell Gills.

She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories to her brother, N.Z. (Ruby) Bryant, Jr.; nieces, Valuia Gills, Robin Silas, Antionette (Don) Corey-Carter, Aretha Metcalf and Sharolyn Miller; nephews, Kenny Gills, Bryan Corey, Peter Crossley, Victor Crossley, Norman Bryant, and Lamonte Brown; great nieces Shawn Crossley and Shannon Crossley; great nephews Kenton Gills, Kerry Gills, Johnathan Silas, Sr., Bryant Miller, Joshua Brooks, Donny Carter, Anthony Carter, and Brandon Miller and other relatives, friends and last but least, her beloved dog, Angel.  Her unique ways of looking at life will never be forgotten.
