With 37 new cases and no new deaths reported Monday morning, MSDH has recorded 309,223 reported COVID-19 cases to date — 189,307 confirmed and 119,916 probable. The state’s health agency has also received reports of 7,153 fatalities — 4,941 confirmed linked to the virus and 2,212 with probable links.

Lincoln County has had 3,892 cases and 109 deaths to date, according to data published Monday by the Mississippi State Department of Health.

Confirmed cases and deaths are generally determined by positive PCR tests, which detect the presence of ongoing coronavirus infection.

Probable cases are those who test positive by other testing methods such as antibody or antigen, and have recent symptoms consistent with COVID-19, indicating a recent infection.

Probable deaths are those individuals with a designation of COVID-19 as a cause of death on the death certificate, but where no confirmatory testing was performed.

MSDH presumes 297,362 people have recovered from positive cases of coronavirus as of April 19, since tracking began in March 2020.

All Mississippi residents are now eligible to be tested for COVID-19 free of charge by appointment at regularly-scheduled county health department locations.
