Carl Craig, owner of Magnolia Blues BBQ Restaurant in Brookhaven, hands a check to Kim Walley, executive director of Southwest Mississippi Children’s Advocacy Center. Craig donated the proceeds from sales on April 13 during his Smokin’ Out Child Abuse event. This is the fourth year for the event.

“I wanted to have a couple of philanthropic events, and with my wife working for (the center) and it being local, it seemed an obvious fit,” Craig said.

“We’re so grateful,” Walley said. “It’s nice to see people come out to support things like this.”

“As long as we’re here we’re going to do it and are happy to do it,” Craig said.
