Local lifters medal in state powerlifting meet

Lincoln County had a strong showing in the recent MHSAA State Powerlifting Meet held at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
Brookhaven High powerlifting coach Russ Britt had two of his lifters make the podium with third-place finishes.
Junior Caleb Harris had his best day as a lifter competing in the 308+ Division. Harris had a combined total of 1,400-pounds on his three lifts. Harris deadlifted 610 pounds, squatted 515 pounds and benched 275 pounds. All three lifts were personal bests for Harris.
In the 181-pound class BHS also got a bronze finish from junior Javonta Stewart. Stewart’s three lift total was 1,220-pounds. He deadlifted 515 pounds, squatted 425 pounds and benched 280 pounds. His bench and deadlift were personal bests.
Bogue Chitto junior Eli Cupit was also a third-place finisher for coach Chad Norton. Competing in the 242-pound division, Cupit had a three-lift total of 1,255 pounds. Cupit deadlifted 540 pounds, squatted 485-pounds and benched 230-pounds.
