More than 800 customers in Lawrence County were without power Wednesday morning, following the movement of thunderstorms overnight through the area.

The 805 outages represented 9.5% of the 8,706 power customers in the county. Every other county in the state experienced outages of 5% or less, according to poweroutage.us. As of 9 a.m., no current outages were reported.

The forecast for Wednesday is for a high of 69 degrees and a 50% chance of rain showers. Chance of rain drops to 20% overnight with a low of 54.

 

Other power outages

Only one outage in Lincoln County was reported, and no storm-related damage in the area had been reported as of Wednesday morning.

Southwest Mississippi Electric Power Association, whose service area includes Lincoln, Copiah, Jefferson, Franklin and Amite counties, reported 27 outages across those counties.

Southern Pine Electric, whose coverage includes Copiah, Lawrence and Lincoln counties, reported no outages in those areas.

Magnolia Electric Power’s coverage includes Amite, Franklin, Lawrence, Lincoln, Pike and Walthall counties. MEP reported 480 outages in Amite County and 147 in Pike County. No other outages were reported for MEP.

Entergy reported 46 power outages in Amite County, and no outages in Lincoln, Lawrence, Jefferson, Franklin, Copiah and Walthall counties.
