The number of people in Lincoln County who have tested positive for COVID-19 has risen by 18 over the past week. Totals for the state have risen by 1,343 in that same time frame.

The Mississippi State Department of Health has reported 314,509 total positive tests and 7,247 deaths related to the virus. Three new deaths and 362 new test results were published Thursday.

Lincoln County’s case number has risen to 3,968, though the county’s death total remains at 110.

For the counties bordering Lincoln County:

• Amite County has had three new cases and no new deaths for a total of 1,228 cases and 42 deaths.
• Copiah County has recorded six new cases but no new deaths, for a total of 2,964 cases and 65 deaths.
• There have been two new cases in Franklin County, for a total of 836 cases and 23 deaths.
• Jefferson County has seen three new cases, bringing its totals to 654 cases and 28 deaths.
• Lawrence County has had three new cases and one new reported fatality, raising its totals to 1,286 cases and 24 deaths.
• Pike County has reported 24 new cases, for a total of 3,301 cases and 105 deaths.
• Walthall County reported one new death over the past week, for a total of 1,338 cases and 45 deaths.

Counties with the greatest number of positive cases over the course of the pandemic are DeSoto (21,626 cases, 259 deaths — 130 new cases and two new deaths in the past seven days) and Hinds (20,359 cases — 66 new — and 415 deaths, one new reported).

Counties with the least number of positive cases are Issaquena (unchanged at 168 cases, six deaths) and Sharkey (502 cases and 17 deaths, unchanged). Though Quitman County has added seven more cases to reach 809, it remains the county with the least number of deaths, 16.

On Tuesday, 195 patients were hospitalized statewide with confirmed COVID-19 infections and 36 were hospitalized with suspected infections. Seventy-one patients were in intensive care units and 32 were on ventilators.

MSDH presumes 303,371 previously infected individuals have recovered from the coronavirus as of May 10.
