Memorial service for Sidney Allan Smith of Edgemont, Arkansas, will be Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Southway Baptist Church at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m.

Sid went to be with his Lord and Savior May 19, 2021, in Pearland, Texas, at his son’s home. He was born to Herman H. Smith Sr. and Novice Wiggins Smith in Compton, California, Sept. 6, 1945. He was a retired customized truck and van salesman.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Herman H. Smith Jr.; and brother-in-law, Elmo Rushing. He is survived by son, Sidney A. Smith Jr./Martin (Michelle); grandchildren, Hunter, McKayla, Kross and Sloan Martin; sister, Carolyn Smith Rushing; nephews, Shane, Shawn and Brandon Smith, Lane Rushing; special niece Debbie Rushing; as well as great-nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Brookhaven High School class of 1963, where he played baseball (left-handed pitcher) and football. He went on to play baseball at Delta State and Mississippi College.

Mr. Smith loved Arkansas Razorback sports, dogs and quarter horses, which he rode and trained. He also hunted and fished.
