Only 4.4% of Mississippians remained without power Tuesday morning after crews worked throughout the day Monday to restore service to customers.

With more than 18,000 electrical service customers in Lincoln County, 3,382 remained without service Tuesday morning. Lawrence County had 576 customers without power; Franklin County had 2,372; 3,418 were without service in Copiah County; 6,599 in Amite County; 12,202 in Pike County; 3,411 in Walthall County; and 638 in Jefferson County.

Entergy had 25,138 customers in its service area without power, out of more than 452,000.

Nearly 18,000 Magnolia Electric Power members were without service, of the company’s 35,226 meters.

Mississippi Power had 115 customers without service in its 190,677 membership.

Southwest Mississippi EPA was working to restore power to 5,920 of its 25,103 meters.

Crews from various companies are assisting one another to restore power to Mississippi’s residents, with the assistance of support crews from other states and from private contractors.

How long it takes to get power restored depends on the extent of the storm’s destruction, the number of outages, and the point when it is safe for utility personnel to get to the damaged areas. There are many steps in the assessment and restoration process — clearing downed power lines; ensuring public health and safety facilities are operational; checking power stations and transformers; repairing transmission lines, substations, and distribution lines; and getting power restored to customers within the damaged areas.
