A 6-6 ballgame at the end of the first quarter ended up being a big win for the Wesson Cobras Friday in Stone Stadium on the campus of Copiah-Lincoln CC.

The Cobras scored 35 unanswered points over the final three quarters to take a 41-6 win over visiting Franklin County.

The Cobras got on the board via a 6-yard Zevantae Stapleton touchdown run in the first quarter, but Franklin County answered back with a 46-yard pass play to tie the game at 6-all.

Senior Collin McGowen answered with a 12-yard TD run that was followed by a 26-yard Stapleton score in the second quarter.

A 52-yard touchdown pass from Wesson junior quarterback Will Loy to Taravian Miller gave Wesson a 28-6 lead at the halftime break.

McGowen scored his second touchdown of the night on the ground in the fourth quarter to put Wesson up 34-6.

For the third time in two games, the Cobras got a defensive touchdown via a returned interception.

With 4:38 remaining in the game Omari Johnson returned a pick-6 for 52 yards and a TD. Last week against Tylertown, Johnson returned an interception 65 yards for a score.

Wesson plays their first road game of the season next week when they travel to face Wilkinson County.
