Copiah-Lincoln Community College is one of the best colleges in the U.S. to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For program.

Announced Monday, the results are based on a survey of 196 colleges and universities and are published in The Chronicle of Higher Education. Seventy of the surveyed institutions received the “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and polices.

Co-Lin has received the recognition for the fifth time, winning in two categories this year: professional development and supervisor/department chair effectiveness.

“I am extremely proud that the college has again achieved this honor, as our employees are a huge part of what makes Co-Lin a very special place,” said Co-Lin President Dr. Jane Hulon Sims.

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captured employment data and workplace policies, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in determining recognition was the employee feedback.

The employee survey underwent a number of changes for this year, including the addition of 11 new survey statements, some of which are related to new themes around diversity, inclusion and belonging, and faculty and staff well-being. New survey demographics related to gender identity and remote work were also included.

In accordance with survey changes, the recognition categories were also updated to better reflect current patterns and methodologies in employee engagement in higher education.

Other Mississippi colleges named to the list were Mississippi State University, Mississippi University for Women, Belhaven University, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Southwest Mississippi Community College.

Southwest was recognized in the following categories: compensation and benefits; confidence in senior leadership; faculty and staff well-being; job satisfaction and support; mission and pride; professional development; and supervisor/department chair effectiveness.
