Caroline Elisabeth Kiser has been named a semifinalist in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. She is the daughter of Jonathan and Tatia Kiser of Madison, and the granddaughter of Sarah Kiser of Monticello and Stan and Rita Long of Bogue Chitto.

Kiser is among 16,000 academically accomplished U.S. semifinalists and is now eligible for continued competition in the program, which awards more than $30 million in scholarships each spring.

Kiser is an early graduate of Madison Central High School and is a freshman at Mississippi State University, majoring in civil engineering. She is a member of the Famous Maroon Band and plays oboe in the Wind Ensemble for the MSU Department of Music.

Ruth student receives OSU scholarship

Jacob Johnson of Ruth was recently honored by the Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture with an academic scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Johnson, an animal science student, received the Joseph Fleming Memorial Transfer Scholarship. The scholarship is part of more than $1.8 million students will receive from the college and its academic departments. Students from all majors are considered for university scholarships, which can be combined with college and departmental opportunities.

“We are fortunate to have many students in the Ferguson College of Agriculture who are actively engage and impacting others,” said Cynda Clary, FCA associate dean of academic programs. “It is an honor and a privilege to award scholarships to help fund their college experience and celebrate the contributions they have made to our college and departments. These scholarships would not be possible without the generosity of our alumni and friends, and we truly appreciate their investment in these students and their development.”
