Attorney Robert O. “Bob” Allen, of Brookhaven, was memorialized this week at the 93rd Annual Memorial Service of The Mississippi Bar.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the service was held virtually. Chief Justice Michael K. Randolph presided over the program and The Mississippi Bar President Robert L. Gibbs presented a eulogy for Allen, who was admitted to the Bar in 1972.
“It was such a nice honor,” said Will Allen, son of Bob Allen and also a Brookhaven attorney. “We were obviously pleased and happy that they recognized him and the rest of these guys.”
Clarence Webster III, chair of the Memorial Service Committee, proposed the memorial resolution. Presiding Justice Leslie D. King responded on behalf of the court.
There were 103 names mentioned in the resolution, including Allen and former governor William F. Winter, who was admitted to the Bar in 1949.
The Mississippi Bar hosts the Memorial Service annually to acknowledge and pay tribute to those attorneys and judges who died within the previous year. The program expresses gratitude and appreciation for each person’s efforts to contribute to the profession and rule of law in the State of Mississippi.
